A patient, paralyzed from a fall, was wheeled into an elevator in a large hospital where he was to
ride up and down for 27 hours while 4,900 hospital personnel looked for him frantically.
Everyone assumed that the man in the wheelchair was alright.
Of course, he couldn't tell them.
Tragically, the man died before being discovered.

Sometimes Christians can be so busy riding the elevators of daily life,
we overlook those in wheelchairs who do not know how to ask for the help they need.
The church must not let hurting people slip through the cracks.
This is the purpose of LIFEgroups. No one gets left behind!

What are LIFEgroups?

LIFE comes from an acrostic meaning Love, Involvement, Fellowship and Evangelism.
They are groups of 15-80 members committed to knowing and applying the word of God in a caring fellowship.
They are organized to bring about pastoral care,
discipleship and outreach for adults college age and up.
Membership in a LIFEgroup is optional but strongly encouraged.

LIFEgroups are set in an informal atmosphere, often sharing in coffee and snacks,
as well as continuous fellowship and spiritual renewal.
To be a part of a LIFEgroup is to share in what we call spiritual community.

Among the needs for LIFEgroups is a need to provide better pastoral care in the church.
Pastoral care is simply responding to the daily needs and hurts of people.
It is a sociological fact that when a group grows beyond 80,
it loses the ability to care for itself and many peoples' needs get missed.

Each LIFEgroup is equipped with a pastoral minister
that oversees and delegates ministry to meet the needs of the group (Ephesians 4:11ff).

Each LIFEgroup meets on Sunday mornings during the Bible study hour.
Before the lesson, each group will discuss what needs exist in that particular group,
and who will do what and when in order to meet the needs of the group.
LIFEgroups promote love, help people learn their place in the church,
teach relationship skills, study skills, build spiritual character and
leadership and enable a large church to meet its members' needs without oversight.
Come and join us as we love and minister to each other!
